Yonkers Police Probe Unauthorized Computer Use

City spokeswoman Christina Gilmartin said the breach occurred from within the technology department

Police in Yonkers are investigating an unauthorized breach of the city's computer system.

The Journal News reports that Yonkers authorities are seeking help from the New York state police as they analyze a potentially illegal use of city computers.

City spokeswoman Christina Gilmartin said the breach occurred from within the technology department.

But she wasn't saying who was involved, what they did, or what kind of information may have been compromised. No one has been suspended or fired.

Yonkers police Commissioner Charles Gardner ordered an initial review of the computer system by detectives.

That review led to the necessity for more in-depth analysis.
