Mets, Yanks Step Up to Plate After Yogi Berra Museum Robbed

Major League Baseball, the Yankees and the Mets are donating exact replicas of the World Series rings and MVP plaques stolen from a New Jersey Yogi Berra museum earlier this month.

Several of the Hall-of-Fame Yankee's World Series rings and two MVP plaques were stolen from the Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center was robbed Oct. 8. No other items appear to be missing.

The museum said the league and the New York teams are also donating new items to the collection in honor of Berra's legacy. A statement issued on behalf of the Board of Trustees thanked the MLB, the Yankees and the Mets for their generosity.

The museum opened in the late 1990s on the university's campus in the northern New Jersey community of Little Falls. In addition to baseball exhibits and memorabilia, it offers children's educational programs that focus on sportsmanship and social justice.

No arrests have been made in the theft. County, state and federal agencies are assisting in the investigation.
