Worker Dies in Cement Mixer Accident in New Jersey: Authorities

Authorities are investigating the death of a worker in some kind of cement mixer accident in New Jersey.

Police received a 911 call from a motorist flagged down by workers from a landscaping company around 9:53 a.m. Wednesday, Wayne County police officials said. The workers had told the motorist someone was trapped in a cement mixer near 155 Dey Road.

Upon arrival, officers found the victim wedged between the rotating cement drum and the body of a cement mixing truck. Authorities said emergency volunteers from the county's first aid squad and members of the St. Joseph's Hospital life support team responded, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Firefighters from the Wayne Volunteer Fire Department helped pry the body from the truck at around 1:30 p.m., officials said. The New Jersey state medical examiner removed the victim's remains for identification purposes.

Authorities say the victim is believed to be around 34 years old. Surveillance video of the work yard will be examined as part of the investigation.
