Firefighters Lift SUV to Rescue Women Pinned Underneath in Brooklyn Accident

At least one woman badly injured after being hit by an SUV and becoming pinned underneath the vehicle at a Brooklyn intersection Thursday evening, fire officials say.

Witnesses said two women were hit at East 16th Street and Gravesend Neck Road in Gravesend Thursday afternoon, though fire officials said they only transported one woman to the hospital.

Responding FDNY firefighters used a front-end loader and jacks to lift the SUV and remove the women from underneath the vehicle, witnesses said.

"They were under there for quite a while before they got them out," said witness Abraham Joseph.

One woman was taken to Lutheran Medical Center with traumatic injuries, the FDNY said.
