Woman Attacked By Bear Airlifted To UCLA Medical Center

Victim Suffers Severe Facial Injuries

A bear attacked a woman Tuesday morning near Caliente, Calif., which is located Kern County. NBC affiliate KGET-TV reported that the bear was still at large and considered a danger to people who live in the area. The attack happened in the sparsely populated hills east of Bakersfield and between Tehachapi and Lake Isabella. The victim was described as a 51-year-old woman who suffered severe facial injuries. She was taken to the Kern County Fire Station in Caliente, and then airlifted at about 10:50 a.m. Tuesday to the UCLA Medical Center.
