Mount Vernon Woman Gets 25 Years' Prison for Driving Over Love Rival

A Mount Vernon woman convicted of manslaughter for mowing down a love rival with her car has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Carla Scott was sentenced Tuesday after being found guilty of leaving the scene of an accident which results in death.

Glynis Pinto was killed last April in Yonkers.

Westchester authorities say Scott struck Pinto with her Mercedes Benz, launching her onto the hood, then drove about 30 yards with her sprawled there. After that, the victim fell onto the road and was run over.

Scott was arrested several days later after fleeing the scene.

Her lawyer, Lawrence Fisher, read a letter in court from Scott saying she was sorry but denying that it was her fault.
