Woman Accused of Taking Painkillers From Prescription Drug Drop Box Outside Police Station After Earlier Arrest

A woman was arrested for allegedly reaching into a prescription medicine drop-box outside a New Jersey police station and stealing two bottles of pills hours after she had been taken into custody for allegedly stealing from a Dunkin' Donuts, authorities say.

Robyn Verga, 27, and two other people were initially arrested early Tuesday after Fair Lawn police responded to a report of a theft at Dunkin' Donuts on Broadway and allegedly found the items in a car one of the suspects had been driving.

All three were taken to the police station, where Verga and one of the suspects were charged with shoplifting; the other suspect was charged with receiving stolen property.

Later Tuesday, Verga and the other suspects returned to police headquarters to claim property that had been taken during their arrest. Police say they saw Verga on surveillance video with her arm inside the prescription drug drop box located at the entrance to the municipal building.

Police allegedly found two bottles of drugs -- Hydrocodone and Vicodin -- on Verga when they went to question her. She was arrested again on charges of theft of movable property and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

It wasn't immediately clear if she had an attorney.
