A woman was critically injured -- and possibly severed her leg -- after she and another man were hit by a car on the Upper West Side on Thursday morning, one of three instances of pedestrians or bicyclists hit by cars in the city within an hour and a half, according to the NYPD.
Police said that the woman, 63, and man, 53, were both hit by a car at Columbus Avenue and West 96th Street at about 11 a.m.
Both pedestrians were taken to St. Luke's Hospital afterward. The driver, who stayed at the scene, wasn't seriously injured.
Not far from the area, and just about an hour later, a 59-year-old man on an electric bicycle swerved to avoid hitting a parked car near 88th Street and Broadway, and was hit by a box truck.
The cyclist, identified as Jing Yin Jiang of the Upper West Side, was pronounced dead at St. Luke's Hospital, police said. The 30-year-old truck driver stayed on the scene.
Earlier, around 10:30 a.m., a 72-year-old man was found in a Bronx street with trauma to the torso after being hit by a car that fled the scene.
Police said a black Ford Fusion was turning left on Richardson Avenue and struck the elderly man in the street. The driver didn't stop.

The victim, identified as Orlando Savino., was pronounced dead at Jacobi Hospital, police said. Investigators are looking for the runaway driver.
