Knife-Wielding Robber Mugs Woman Walking in Greenwich Village: NYPD

A woman was mugged while walking in Greenwich Village early Tuesday morning, and police are searching for the suspect, who was captured on video running from the scene.

Police said the 35-year-old victim was walking past 405 Sixth Ave. at about 5 a.m. when the suspect approached her from behind, showed a knife and demanded she turn over her property.

The woman dropped her purse, which contained $300 and an iPhone, and ran away without being hurt, according to police.

Security video captured the suspect holding the victim's purse right after the robbery.
