    A woman struck by a bus Saturday afternoon in New Jersey was said by police to be in critical condition and likely to lose both legs.

    The accident happened at about 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Mount Prospect Avenue and Heller Parkway in Newark, police said. A New Jersey Transit but hit the woman as she was crossing the street at the intersection, investigators said.

    Emergency responders applied tourniquets to both legs of the victim, who wasn't identified by police but believed to be in her sixties. She was taken to University Hospital.
