Woman Found Dead, Cut in Basement Apartment in Flushing: NYPD

Neighbors in a quiet, residential area of Queens are reeling after learning a woman was found dead and bleeding on top of her bed in her basement apartment in Flushing.

The unidentified woman, who's in her 60s, was found with cuts to her face, head and arms when police found her.

The victim rented a room in the basement at 158-10 65th Ave. with a man, neighbors said, but the relationship between the two wasn't immediately clear. Distraught relatives on the scene Tuesday declined to speak.

The 107th Precinct saw three murders last year and none at all this year until possibly Tuesday. The medical examiner will rule on a cause of death.

"This is a nice neighborhood. Nothing like that ever happens here," a man said.
