Tied Up Woman Escapes Gunmen Who Murder Friend

Victim chewed through tape, ran out of apartment, cops say

Police say a woman who was tied up with tape and pushed into a closet by three armed men managed to free herself and escape but not before a man she had just met was killed.

Police say the 22-year-old woman was in the man's apartment at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday when the gunmen entered and demanded money from him.

Police say they found the body of Ladwan Brown shot in the head, sitting in a chair, his feet and hands bound.

They say the woman managed to chew through the tape and run out of the apartment, with the gunmen in pursuit. She told police she escaped when someone offered her a ride.

Police say Brown apparently knew his assailants, who remain at large.
