Man in Custody in Death of Missing Woman Found Stabbed in Car Trunk: Police

A man police have been searching for in connection with the death of a woman was stabbed in the trunk of a parked car last Thursday night in Queens has been apprehended, police tweeted Friday.

The 30-year-old man was last seen driving the car in which 28-year-old's Angie Escobar's body was found and the vehicle was parked close to his home, police said. He was taken into custody Friday in Virginia. There was no immediate word on charges.

Officers found Escobar's body around 8:30 p.m. Sept. 10 after receiving a call about a suspicious vehicle near 22nd Avenue and Murray Street in Whitestone.

The car had a foul odor coming out of the trunk and officers discovered the woman’s body inside, the NYPD said.

Escobar, of Queens Village, had been reported missing Sept. 8 and was last seen on Sept. 4 at her home, police said.

Neighbors called Escobar a "great mother." A GoFundMe page has been set up for her two sons.
