Woman Bitten, Robbed After Opening Bank Lobby Door for Man: Police

A woman who opened the door to a locked bank lobby for a man who didn't seem to have his ATM card out was bitten and robbed by that same man in a violent attack that was caught on surveillance video.

The attack happened on Dec. 28 in the lobby of a Chase Bank on Market Street in Paterson, New Jersey, according to police.

The woman was completing a transaction around 7:30 p.m. at the ATM of the lobby, which is only accessible by swiping an ATM card, when a man approached the door and could not get in, police say.

Surveillance video shows the victim open the door for the man. Moments later, when all the other customers are gone, the man can be seen attacking the woman and biting her right hand. Police say the bite, which was so hard it drew blood, caused the woman to open her hand and let go of the money she had just taken out.

The suspect took the money and fled the scene.
