Woman Backing Up Convertible on New Jersey Highway Dies in Crash: Police

A woman backing up her convertible died in a two-vehicle collision along a New Jersey highway.

Authorities said a woman driving a convertible apparently was backing up on the shoulder of state Route 287 in Wanaque at about 7 a.m. Thursday when she lost control of the car and it entered the traffic lanes.

It was then struck by an SUV with four people inside.

EMS pronounced the woman dead at the scene. The four people in the SUV were treated for minor injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
