LI Woman Arrested for DWI After Hitting Cop Car

A 45-year-old Long Island woman was arrested Friday night for driving while intoxicated after hitting two cars, including a police cruiser, authorities said.

Police said they first pulled over Pendoria Jackson in Medford for driving erratically earlier in the evening, but she drove off when an officer attempted to open her door.

Jackson eventually drove to Bellport where she hit a stop sign and then struck a police car, narrowly missing two officers on foot, authorities said.

The woman continued driving and struck a Jeep Cherokee that was stopped at a red light.

Jackson was apprehended soon after and charged with felony driving while intoxicated, unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, criminal mischief, reckless endangerment and reckless driving.

Two officers were injured attempting to break the window of Jackson’s vehicle while making the arrest. Jackson and the officers were taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Center in East Patchogue where they were treated for minor injuries.

Jackson was scheduled to be arraigned Saturday in Central Islip.
