Woman Arrested After Off-Duty Cop Injured in Hit-and-Run: NYPD

Police have arrested a woman after an off-duty NYPD officer was hit by a car while he was crossing the street Wednesday night in Queens, according to officials.

Ellen Rivera-Moya turned herself in to police Thursday, the NYPD said.

The unidentified officer was crossing the road at Cooper Avenue and 80th Street in Middle Village around 9:30 p.m. when a car ran a red light, hit the officer and then took off, the FDNY said.

The office was taken to Jamaica Hospital in serious condition with injuries to the head. Police say he is conscious and alert.

Rivera-Moya was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injury. It wasn't known if she had an attorney.
