Alleged Drunk Woman Driving With Boy, 5, Hits Mother and Toddler Walking on Long Island Street: Cops

A 28-year-old woman driving with a 5-year-old boy in the back seat of her car was arrested on a DWI charge after she allegedly hit a 31-year-old pedestrian and that pedestrian's 2-year-old son on Long Island Wednesday night.

Authorities say they got a call about the accident shortly after 10 p.m. on Seville Street in Elmont. When cops arrived, they found the 31-year-old pedestrian on the ground next to a 2008 BMW. She was holding her 2-year-old son.

Police say both the pedestrian and her son had been hit and were taken to a hospital for evaluation and treatment, though their injuries didn't appear to be serious. The BMW driver, Kiran Choudhry, of College Point, allegedly had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and was unsteady on her feet.

She was arrested at the scene. The 5-year-old boy in her car was released to a relative. Choudhry is charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra's Law, aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle and other crimes. She is expected to be arraigned Thursday. It wasn't clear if she had an attorney.
