Wild Turkeys Lounge in New Jersey Backyard Ahead of Thanksgiving

A New Jersey resident got an early Thanksgiving surprise when he found four wild turkeys lounging in his backyard.

Bill DeVries first noticed the turkeys on his deck Tuesday morning, he told NBC 4 New York. He found three of them standing on a lounge chair while a fourth with an injured leg and stood nearby.

DeVries grabbed his phone and quietly snapped a few photos before the turkeys saw him through the window and scampered off.

DeVries said the first three turkeys seemed to wait for their injured companion as it caught up with them. His wife has seen them before, but never so close to the house.

DeVries said he was surprised to see the turkeys because there has been an influx of foxes in his neighborhood. He recently saw a family of three or four playing together. He has also seen deer and raccoons regularly on his property.
