Westchester Man Shoots Self, Blames Another: Police

Police say a Westchester City man who accidentally shot himself has been charged for lying that someone else did it.

They say Juan Gell of White Plains shot himself in the midsection but told police someone shot him during an attempted robbery in Yonkers Monday.

The Journal News says Gell allegedly even gave officers a description of the alleged shooter.

Police say Gell was with a group of three people who left him after he shot himself. An ambulance driving along the service road of the Saw Mill River Parkway picked him up soon after and took him to a hospital.

Gell was arrested Wednesday. He's charged with falsely reporting an incident.

He was released on $1,000 bail. It wasn't clear whether he had a lawyer.
