Cops Seek Hit-Run Driver Who Sped Down Sidewalk, Plowed Into Pedestrian in Queens

The victim suffered a concussion, a broken femur and dislocated shoulder

Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who sped down a Queens sidewalk, slamming into a 21-year-old man who was knocked unconscious as he flew into the air and landed in the crosswalk on the street.

Police say a white sedan drove up onto the sidewalk while going westbound on 30th Avenue in Astoria, then plowed into the victim at 45th Street at about 4 a.m. Saturday. The driver sped away.

The victim suffered a concussion, a broken femur and dislocated shoulder, police say.

A security camera at a restaurant near the intersection captured the hit-and-run. Neighbors say the area is busy and usually filled with pedestrians.

"It scares me," said Ana Lopez. "I live here and walk this street every day."

"Whenever I'm here, I walk around here," said Kathy Belding. "It's really scary to see that."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
