Man Seeking Police Job Instead Arrested on Warrant

The warrant was uncovered during a background check

A man seeking to become a police officer in northern New Jersey was arrested during his interview after authorities found he was wanted on a warrant stemming from a traffic violation several years earlier.

Westwood Police Chief Frank Regino refused to identify the man or provide additional details on the warrant, telling The Record that it "wasn't for anything serious."

Regino said the warrant was uncovered during a background check and that the man was removed from the pool of applicants seeking the job in the Bergen County community. He said the man did not know about the warrant.
