Westchester Issues Alert After Rabid Cat Found in Ossining

The cat is not believed to have exposed anyone to rabies

The Westchester County Department of Health issued an alert about a rabid cat that was brought into an Ossining shelter Tuesday.

Westchester County Health Commissioner Sherlita Amler said the cat is not believed to have exposed anyone to rabies.

The stray, multicolored cat was found on James Street. Anyone who believes that they or a pet may have had contact with the rabid cat was urged to contact the Department of Health at 914-813-5000 to assess the need for rabies treatment.
