Newark Man Arrested in West Orange Gas Station Robbery, Shooting: Police

Police say they've arrested a suspect in a New Jersey gas station robbery last week in which an attendant was shot in the groin.

The masked robber was captured on surveillance video approaching the Delta gas station attendant on Park Avenue in West Orange on June 16, then shooting him in the groin when the worker resisted.

The attendant was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators connected the incident to a suspect who was arrested two days later in a separate armed robbery in Irvington.

The suspect, 21-year-old Kashif Harris of Newark, was charged with robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon and aggravated assault.

He remains in Essex County Jail on $400,000 bail. It wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney.

Another attendant was shot in the stomach during another robbery at a gas station in Ridgefield Park late on June 9. It’s not clear if the two robberies are related.
