Pedestrian Dies in Hit-and-Run on Long Island

Police on Long Island say a pedestrian was left to die on a street in West Islip after being hit by a vehicle late Sunday night or early Monday morning.

The victim, 26-year-old Jason Nelson, was found lying in the street on Sandra Avenue at about midnight Monday, police said. 

Nelson, of Brightwaters, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police are investigating the hit-and-run and are asking anyone with information on Nelson's death to call the Third Squard at 631-854-8352.
