Showers, Thunderstorms To Continue Ahead of Weeklong Stretch of Unsettled Weather

Keep the umbrellas handy all week

What to Know

  • Storm Team 4 says the tri-state may get 1 to 3 inches of rain over a several-day stretch that may feature 30 to 40 mph winds
  • Saturday starts off nice, before high pressure pushes out and low pressure moves in, bringing the threat of rain, storms every day next week
  • The weather doesn't look to improve until the following Saturday; Storm Team 4 says to keep the umbrellas handy all week

If you have outdoor plans, you'll need a Plan B — and an umbrella.

On and off showers are expected to continue overnight Sunday and into Monday, Storm Team 4 says.

The storms could pop up anywhere at any time and produce heavy rain, so meteorologist Raphael Miranda recommends keeping an eye on the radar.

Tuesday is expected to be dry, and highs that day could reach the mid-80s.

The second half of the week will see more rain and storms moving through the tri-state area, according to meteorologist Erica Grow.

The storm system dropped less than 2 inches of rain across the tri-state overnight, according to the National Weather Service. The highest amount recorded was 1.76 in North Caldwell in Essex County. Most areas got between half an inch and 1 inch.

There were several reports of trees and wires down in Fairfield County, Connecticut, and Union and Hudson counties in New Jersey, according to the National Weather Service.
