Afternoon showers, and possibly an isolated thunderstorm or two, could make for a slick evening commute Monday, forecasters say.
After a quiet, calm start to the day, warmer winds out of the southwest will gradually pick up, helping to push temperatures near 70 degrees by the afternoon. Showers and possible thunderstorms ahead of an approaching cold front are expected to pass through later, leaving a tenth to a quarter inch of rain across most of the region before the wet weather tapers off overnight.
Storm Team 4 says areas north and west of the city will have the best chance of seeing heavier showers swing through, and rainfall totals could be locally higher.
A colder air mass will slide back down into the tri-state overnight, sending the mercury back to November-like temperatures -- in the low to mid 50s -- for the rest of the workweek.
