Police are looking for a man who was caught on camera taking a woman down in an apartment stairway and running off with her cell phone.
The violent robbery happened Thursday at about 6:30 p.m. at the 22-year-old victim's Harlem apartment
The suspect can be seen on surveillance tape trying to grab the woman’s purse and throwing her to the ground when she resists. After struggling against the victim, the suspect takes off with her cellphone and leaves the purse behind.
Elise Rosales is the woman seen being brutally beaten in surveillance video released by police. The criminal justice student put up the fight of her life, afraid the man would take her purse which held notes she needed to study for upcoming finals.
"I was screaming for help," Rosales told NBC 4 New York. "I was scared, I didn't want him to take my purse. I didn't know if he had a weapon."
