Death of Baby Found in Bag in Manhattan Victoria's Secret Ruled a Homicide: Medical Examiner

The death of the baby found in his teen mother's bag during a shoplifting arrest at a Herald Square Victoria's Secret last year has been ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner's office.

The ruling comes nearly six months after a security guard found the baby in a shopping bag after pulling aside the child's mother and another teen at the Victoria's Secret on West 34th Street on Oct. 17.

An autopsy was inconclusive, and additional tests had to be conducted to determine the cause of death.

The mother told police that she was about 6 months pregnant and had miscarried the baby before the shopping trip. She wasn't charged with a crime in the child's death, but faced shoplifting charges.

It's not immediately clear if the teen will face additional charges.
