University at Buffalo Gets $30M From Bruins Owner's Family

The University at Buffalo has received a $30 million donation from the family of the Boston Bruins owner and will name its medical school after them.

The donation from the family of Jeremy Jacobs was announced Monday. In addition to owning the Bruins, Jacobs is chairman of the Buffalo-based food service company Delaware North.

UB's medical school is scheduled to move into a new building in downtown Buffalo in 2017. President Satish Tripathi says it will be named the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

The Jacobses have given a total of $50 million to UB over the years.
