New York City Ranked Sixth Most Unfriendly City in the World, Survey Finds

New York City is among the top 10 unfriendliest cities in the world, according to a new survey.

Travel + Leisure released its annual list of the most unfriendly cities in the globe, based on responses from nearly 200,000 people worldwide. Of 266 cities ranked by indicators like value and warmth of residents, New York was determined to be the sixth most unfriendly city in the world.

According to Travel + Leisure, one survey respondent said, "People are not exactly the kindest to strangers. New York has everything -- just don't ask a person in the street to help you find it."

Other survey respondents felt overwhelmed by the crowds. Ultimately, many said it was still worth visiting the Big Apple, despite it being "unfriendly," namely for its bagels, the incredible view from One World Trade Center and all that Central Park has to offer.

A Travel + Leisure survey earlier this year found New York City to be the least friendly city in America.

Moscow, Russia, was named the most unfriendly city in the world, according to the latest survey, followed by Atlantic City, New Jersey, St. Petersburg, Russia, and Marseille, France. Los Angeles, California, rounded out the top five.

As for the friendliest cities in the world, Galway, Ireland, was No. 1, followed by Charleston, South Carolina, where the recent church massacre did not appear to dampen the city's resilience and compassion. Dublin, Ireland, came in at No. 3, followed by Cork, Ireland, and Siem Reap, Cambodia.
