Two teenagers were shot outside a restaurant at a busy downtown Brooklyn intersection, one of them fatally, after a large group got into a fight down the block, authorities and witnesses said.
A 16-year-old boy, identified as Armani Hankins of Queens, was shot in the head outside an Applebee's on Flatbush Avenue Extension near DeKalb Avenue, at about 5:30 p.m., according to police. He was taken to Brooklyn Hospital in critical condition and pronounced dead there.
An 18-year-old man was shot in the ankle and was taken to Methodist Hospital in serious condition.
No arrest has been made.
Witnesses told NBC 4 New York a group of teens had gotten into a fight down the block outside McDonald's, and the chaos drifted toward Applebee's, where roughly 10 gunshots were fired.
Cellphone footage obtained by NBC 4 New York sister station Telemundo 47 shows a large group of young people stampeding down the sidewalk, then suddenly turning back and running in the other direction, presumably when the gunshots were fired. One of the teens limps on one foot as he runs back.
Panicked bystanders are also seen running into nearby stores to take cover.

Restaurants within the area, including the Applebee's, a 7-Eleven and a pizza shop, were closed as police investigated.
It's not clear what sparked the fighting, but people working and living in the area said there has been an ongoing problem with teenagers fighting on the block when school is let out.
