The State University of New York says its Twitter account was hacked last weekend with its usual photographs of campus scenes replaced by pornographic images.
SUNY spokeswoman Holly Liapis says Tuesday that the public university system's account was the victim of hackers Saturday. She says the offending content was removed and the account secured within 27 minutes of being noticed by SUNY.
"We at SUNY noticed the issue," the SUNY account tweeted at 6:13 p.m. Saturday "Even the country's largest system of higher ed can be social hacked."
SUNY's Twitter account has more than 18,000 followers.
