Trump Recorded Discussing Paying for Playboy Model's Story
Michael Cohen’s attorney says a recorded conversation in 2016 shows Donald Trump mentioning "cash" in relation to a possible payment to a former Playboy model who alleges she had a year-long affair with Trump, NBC News reported. Cohen's attorney, Lanny Davis, released the recording to CNN. The audio, which is difficult to hear at times, comes after The New York Times and Wall Street Journal reported on the existence of the tape. The recording appears to show Cohen discuss "how to set the whole thing up with funding" and at one point Trump appears to ask "what financing?" and seems to ask, "Pay with cash?" Cohen appears to then say "No, no, no, no, no, no, I got.." before Trump is heard saying, or asking, "Check" and then the recording abruptly ends. Trump's attorney Rudy Giuliani said in a phone interview with NBC News after the tape aired that "the president clearly says: 'not cash' and Cohen says: 'no, no, no,' and then the president says: 'check.'" He added, "It shows the president wanted it done in a way that was memorialized."
Winning Mega Millions Ticket for $522M Jackpot Sold in California
The sole jackpot winning ticket for the $522 million Mega Millions jackpot was sold in California, the company said. The ticket for the fifth-largest prize in the game's 16-year history was sold at a San Jose liquor store, according to California lottery. Tuesday night's winning numbers were: 19, 2, 4, 1, 29 and the Mega Ball was 20. No one had hit the jackpot since May 4. That $142 million prize was the third winning jackpot this year. Mega Millions said there were 3,109,361 winning tickets at all prize levels, including the jackpot. There have been nearly 17.4 million winning tickets since May 4, they said, including 35 that were worth $1 million or more. All it takes to win the pot is $2 for a ticket and having the odds of 1 in 302.6 million in your favor. Players must select five numbers from 1 to 70 and one Mega Ball from 1 to 25.
Sergio Marchionne, Who Saved Fiat and Chrysler, Has Died

Sergio Marchionne, a charismatic and demanding leader who engineered two long-shot corporate turnarounds to save both Fiat and Chrysler from near-certain failure, has died. He was 66. The Exor holding company of the Fiat founding family Agnelli announced Marchionne's death in Zurich in a statement. Marchionne built the dysfunctional companies into the world's seventh-largest automaker almost by personal force of will, living on a corporate jet crossing the Atlantic to push employees to accomplish what most people thought was impossible amid a devastating global recession. Marchionne, who was Italian and Canadian, had revived Fiat by 2009 when he was picked by the U.S. government to save U.S.-based Chrysler from its trip through bankruptcy protection after being owned by a private equity company.
AIDS Drugs Show More Promise for Preventing New Infections, Research Shows
New research shows more promise for using AIDS treatment drugs as a prevention tool, to help keep uninfected people from catching HIV during sex with a partner who has the virus. There were no infections among gay men who used a two-drug combo pill either daily or just before and after sex with someone with HIV, one study found. In a second study, no uninfected men caught the virus if they had sex only with a partner whose HIV was well suppressed by medicines. The United States' top AIDS scientist, Dr. Anthony Fauci, called the results "very impressive" and "really striking. About 36 million people worldwide have HIV and 1.8 million new infections occur each year, said Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
Woman Likely Spread Ebola A Year After Infection, Doctors Say
A Liberian woman who probably caught Ebola in 2014 may have infected three relatives a year after she first fell sick, doctors reported in a study. There have been previous instances of men spreading Ebola to women via sexual transmission — the virus can survive in semen for more than a year — but the new case is the first time scientists have suggested that Ebola was spread from a woman after such a prolonged period. The rare possibility of Ebola spreading long after infection highlights the importance of monitoring survivors, especially with the imminent end of the most recent flare-up of the disease in Congo. That country's latest outbreak, announced in May, has so far recorded 38 confirmed cases, including 14 deaths.
Singer Demi Lovato Hospitalized Following Apparent Overdose
Grammy-nominated singer Demi Lovato was transported to Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles following a suspected overdose, sources familiar with the incident told NBC News. First responders were called to a residence in the 8000 block of Laurel View Drive in the Hollywood area, the sources said. They used naloxone, also known by its trade name Narcan, to reverse the effects of the overdose. In March, the 25-year-old celebrated maintaining six years of sobriety. Lovato has for years been open about her battles with drug and alcohol addictions, as well as with bipolar disorder, eating disorders and self-harm. She underwent rehab in 2010, at age 18. Lovato's spokesperson told NBC News; "Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support. Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy."
Karlie Kloss Engaged to Joshua Kushner
Karlie Kloss is headed down the aisle. The supermodel is engaged to her longtime boyfriend Joshua Kushner, the 25-year-old fashionista confirmed on social media. The news comes on the heels of their joint vacation in Italy. A source told People that Kushner proposed a few weeks ago in upstate New York and it seems their trip abroad was the perfect way to celebrate the special milestone. Last month, the Victoria's Secret Angel paid tribute to her beau on his 33rd birthday. "Happy Birthday to my love + my best friend in the Universe. Love you more than I can ever express @joshuakushner," she wrote to him publicly. Kushner, a businessman and investor, is the younger brother of Jared Kushner, senior advisor and son-in-law of President Trump.
