    Tribeca Suspect Left Note Saying 'He Did it for ISIS'

    The 29-year-old suspect left a note in the truck claiming he committed the attack for ISIS, according to law enforcement sources. Jonathan Dienst reports. (Published Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017)

    What to Know

    • Sayfullo Saipov wrote in a note found in his truck that he rammed into people in New York City for ISIS, sources say

    • He's an Uzbek national who lives in Paterson, New Jersey, as a permanent resident; he has a wife and two children

    • He worked as a commercial truck driver and Uber Driver. The popular ride-sharing service said he was banned after Tuesday's attack

    Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov, the 29-year-old truck driver suspected in the Manhattan bike path rampage that killed eight people and gravely injured others in what authorities have described as the worst terrorist attack in New York City since 9/11, is an immigrant from Uzbekistan who came to the U.S. in 2010. 

    Saipov came to America legally through a diversity via lottery program and is believed to have most recently lived in New Jersey, though he has ties to Florida and other states. Details continue to emerge about his activities over the last seven years. Here's a brief timeline of what we know so far:

    March 2010: Moves to the U.S., lives with Cincinnati, Ohio, family for a few weeks. At some point that year he is issued a commercial truck license, originally in New Jersey, then in Florida

    April 21, 2011: Traffic violation in Maryland, gives Fort Myers Address

    May 20, 2011: Registered agent for Sayf Motors Inc., an auto business in Cincinnati

    Dec. 14, 2011: Traffic ticket issued in Iowa lists address in Fort Myers, Florida

    Aug. 25, 2012: Traffic charges in Pennsylvania, lists Paterson, New Jersey, address

    April 12, 2013: Married in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio

    Aug. 27, 2013: -- Registered agent for Bright Auto, an auto business in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio
