Driver Arrested After Pickup Crashes Into House, Sparks Inferno

A 35-year-old man has been arrested after the pickup truck he was driving hit a house on Long Island Tuesday evening, cutting a natural gas line and sparking a large fire, authorities said.

Anthony Capuano, of Selden, was charged with driving while impaired by drugs and second-degree reckless endangerment.

Authorities say he was driving the truck that crashed into a home on Choate Avenue at about 7:15 p.m. and caused a gas line break that ignited the home and forced evacuations of nearby houses.

Three people were inside the home when the truck hit it, but they were able to escape and were not injured.

It wasn't known if Capuano had an attorney.
