Some Queens residents are protesting a plan to banish a statue long derided as sexist to Brooklyn's Green-Wood Cemetery.
City Councilman Peter Vallone Jr. and other supporters of the statue called "The Triumph of Civic Virtue" rallied Saturday to keep it in its current place outside Queens Borough Hall.
The 90-year-old statue depicts a nude man — civic virtue — standing over two prone women representing vice and corruption.
It has been criticized by women's rights advocates ever since it was first unveiled at City Hall Park in 1922.
The statue was moved to Queens in 1941.
The city's Design Commission approved a plan last month to exile the statue to the privately owned Green-Wood.
