Trio Charged With Baby Formula Thefts

Formula was valued at about $1,400

Three New Yorkers are in hot water for stealing about 85 cans of baby formula.

Police say the formula, valued at about $1,400, was stolen from Long Island supermarkets over two months. It apparently was destined for resale in New York City.

Suffolk County Police Sgt. Todd Barone says the thieves parked outside supermarket exits, then went inside and grabbed as many cans as they could. They were caught on security video.

Two of the suspects were waiting arraignment Monday on petty larceny charges. The third will be arraigned April 7.
