Emergency responders were called to Queens Tuesday afternoon when a large tree fell on top of a home, taking down an awning and twisting a metal and brick gate, authorities say.
The tree, which appeared to have been from the sidewalk in front of the home, smashed on top of the house at 22-52 36th St. in Ditmars at about 4:15 p.m., according to the FDNY. No one was home at the time.
Two homes next door were evacuated as a precaution, but no one else was hurt, the FDNY says.
Buildings investigators are on the scene.
It's not clear what caused the tree to fall.
