Trapped Under a Golf Cart!

2 men rescued at country club

The house began to twitch. The winds began to switch … and suddenly two men were whisked away to the Land of Oz. Ok, that's not true, but a "weird little wind event" gave two men a headache.

The victims got hurt after they became trapped under a golf car at a country club in suburban New York when their vehicle flipped over during a "weird little wind event.''

Strong winds were to blame for the mishap at the Beekman Country club in East Fishkill, about 66 miles north of Manhattan, police say. The men were just about to tee off when the wind flipped over the golf cart, trapping them underneath, reports The Journal News.

Both men suffered head injuries and abrasions, but refused treatment before continuing on with their game.

Police Sgt. Kevin Keefe says the two golfers and witnesses reported seeing a funnel cloud. He says, "What we had was a weird little wind event.''

The dry, sunny conditions could have led to the formation of a "dust devil," said National Weather Service meteorologist Joe Villani. Villani said they can have "enough velocity to move things.''
