FDR Traffic Diverted After Tractor-Trailer Gets Wedged Under Overpass

Traffic was diverted on the FDR Monday morning after a tractor-trailer got wedged underneath an overpass on the Manhattan highway.

The truck got stuck near 61st Street at about 5 a.m., according to the city’s office of emergency management. The truck was headed on the road’s northbound lanes when it got wedged between a pair of overpass beams supporting a greenway built atop the highway.

The overpasses sheared off the top of the truck’s trailer and caused it to buckle. All lanes reopened shortly before 10 a.m. after crews extricated the truck.
