Police: Truck Driver With $28,000 in Unpaid Tolls Hid Plates, Arrested on GWB

The driver went through the cash lanes without paying, police said

A truck driver accused of having $28,000 in unpaid tolls was arrested Monday morning on the George Washington Bridge, and police say he was trying to hide his license plates.

Port Authority police say the 34-year-old driver from Queens was seen driving the tractor-trailer through the eastbound cash lanes towards New York City without paying a toll, just before 8 a.m.

He was later found to have $28,000 in unpaid tolls on Port Authority crossings, officials said.

The driver is charged with theft and tampering with public records.
