7 Drivers Owing Nearly $200K in Tolls Busted in George Washington Bridge Crackdown: Police

Port Authority police arrested seven toll dodgers who owe nearly $200,000 in unpaid tolls and fees, the agency announced Tuesday.

The arrests came amid a crackdown at the George Washington Bridge on Tuesday morning, according to the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey.

The Port Authority police targeted drivers traveling over the lower levels because toll-beaters tend to drive over that portion over the span.

Among those arrested included a driver who owed more than $16,423 worth of unpaid tolls. That driver accrued another $63,000 in fees for failing to pony up to travel on roadways and bridges 1,260 times.

Another driver owed more than $61,000 for skipping out on 694 tolls.
