Thousands in Tri-State Lose Power as Storm Rolls Through

Thousands in the tri-state were temporarily without power early Saturday evening as strong winds and heavy rains lashed the area.

Jersey Central Power & Light reported that more than 30,000 customers were without power at around 6 p.m., with most outages in Monmouth and Middlesex counties.

In Connecticut, Connecticut Light & Power said there were more than 5,000 customers without power early Saturday evening. In New York, Con Edison reported that more than 1,000 customer outages.

The weather was also affecting travel, with JFK International Airport warning of flight delays at around 6 p.m.

Scattered thunderstorms were forecast for much of Saturday evening.
