Thousands Rally for Gay Marriage

Thousands of people rallied in Manhattan on Saturday in one of a number of demonstrations around the country protesting California's new ban on gay marriage.

The cheering, chanting crowd stretched for blocks around City Hall.

It was young and boisterous, but peaceful.

Some people waved rainbow colored flags. Others wore pink buttons that said, "I do."

Demonstrations were also planned in dozens of other U.S. cities.
