This Time, NYC “Top Model” Auditions Go Off Safely

This time, the aspiring models exhibited some model behavior.

The do-over for "America's Next Top Model" Manhattan auditions went smoothly Saturday. It was a sharp contrast to last month's audition, which ended when a melee broke out and led to the arrest of three people.

Tighter safety measures this time helped the auditions go more smoothly. Barricades kept hopefuls in a narrow line, and they were allowed inside in small groups.

Last time, the jammed sidewalk outside the audition became the site of a stampede when a smoking car frightened the crowd. Authorities shut down that audition, saying it wasn't properly organized.

The doors Saturday opened at 6 a.m., and more than 1,000 women waited in line. In a twist, the show is only considering women who are under 5-foot-7.
