Thief Steals Car With Baby Girl Inside in New Jersey: Police

Police are searching for a man they say stole a car while a baby girl was inside.

Police received a report of a stolen car with a 1-year-old girl inside at Chambers Street and Tindall Avenue in Hamilton Township, New Jersey, shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday.

The girl’s grandmother told police she had left her cellphone in the vehicle and police were able to track the device.

Police later found the vehicle about four blocks away from Chambers and Tindall at a gas station. The baby was found inside the car alone and unharmed. The vehicle was parked and running but the suspect was nowhere to be found. Medics checked the baby and determined she was okay.

The suspect is described as a thin man in his 40s standing 5 feet 8 inches tall. He was wearing a white t-shirt, jean shorts and a blue or green baseball hat.
