Teenage Siblings Wounded, Caught in Crossfire of Bronx Shooting: Police

No arrests have been reported

Two teenage siblings were wounded just after midnight when they were hit by stray bullets fired after a fight broke out in the Bronx, police and witnesses said Sunday.

A 16-year-old boy was shot in the stomach and his 17-year-old sister was wounded in the torso when gunfire erupted on 176th street in the Mount Hope neighborhood, police said.

Both were taken to Lincoln Hospital, police said. The teenage girl was treated and released.

The teens' father, who declined to reveal his name, told NBC 4 New York that the family was enjoying a cookout before things "spiraled out of control" and a fight broke out.

"Everybody was scrambling because we heard gunshots," he said. "And I think by son and daughter were going to the store. They got caught in the crossfire."

No arrests have been reported.
