NJ Trio Used Twitter for Firearm Trafficking Scheme: Authorities

Authorities in Essex County say three teenagers found some new -- and illegal -- uses for social media.

Acting County Prosecutor, Carolyn Murray, announced a 24-count indictment Friday against 19-year-old Bomani Duncan of Bloomfield and 19-year-old Taquan Williams and 18-year-old Yasin Shabazz of East Orange.

Duncan is charged with 22 counts including robbery and firearms trafficking. He allegedly organized a network of Twitter users to transfer or sell firearms.

Duncan and Williams allegedly robbed a woman in March while displaying guns.

Shabazz is charged with attempting to buy a gun from Duncan without a valid permit and attempting to sell a handgun to Duncan on Twitter.

Authorities allege Duncan is a member of the Bloods Street Gang's G-Shine set.

It's unknown if the three have attorneys.
