Robber Stabs Teen in Chest on Brooklyn Street: NYPD

A robber stabbed a teenager in the chest when the teen tried to take back his stolen backpack on a Brooklyn street, police say.

The 17-year-old boy was walking in the area of 11th Street and 3rd Avenue in Gowanus the night of June 23 when the man approached him with a knife and demanded he hand over his backpack, police said.

The teen complied and handed the bag over, then followed the robber to try to get his property back, according to police. 

When he confronted the man at Prospect and 3rd avenues, the man stabbed him in the chest, then ran away, police said. 

The victim was taken to Methodist Hospital to be treated for his injuries.
